Sugar Sugar

The song "Sugar Sugar" by The Archies came on my Glee station on Pandora. Wow, that song reminds me of "Now and Then" every time I hear it. If you have never seen the movie "Now and Then," you are missing out, my friends. That was one of those movies I remember watching over and over as a child. That song and the "Knock Three Times" songs are so nostalgic for me, which is funny because the songs came out in the 60s when the movie takes place, but it came out in the 90s. If I think those songs are nostalgic, think about people who grew up in the 60s listening to those songs. That movie's music was so influential during my childhood. The only other movie's soundtrack that had as big of an effect on me was "Dazed and Confused." What a kick ass soundtrack. The movie is awesome, and the music just adds to the feel of these 90s actors being in the 1970s. Not to mention a pre-Rent Anthony Rapp is hilarious in this movie.

So speaking of songs, I found this thing on a friend's blog called the 30 Day Song Challenge. Every day has a different theme for the song. I'm going to do this for every day in June (thank goodness there are 30 days; the last day if it had 31 would have bothered me, haha). I'm going to be Tweeting this as well and posting it on Facebook, but I'm using my blog to explain my choices. I probably won't be updating this every day since it takes a lot of me to write a blog, but I'll try to keep it updated every two days at least. :D

Day One: Your Favorite Song
Bright Lights
I chose "Bright Lights" by Matchbox Twenty. I picked this song because it has not always been my clear favorite song. It's been my favorite Matchbox song for a while, but I promoted it to overall favorite song. I chose this because I love how the person to whom he's singing is ambitious and wants to go to New York. She wants to be on Broadway and follow her dreams. Rob says she can always come home, though, if she feels like an outcast and doesn't feel the welcome of New York. Her home will always be there. I relate to this a lot. I know that when I get out of CNU and do whatever I need to do, I will always have a home to fall back to when I'm at my lowest point. If New York does not work out, I can always come home, regroup, and go out again. It's an inspiring song. Rob Thomas is an inspiration in general. He is one of the best singer/songwriters of our time.

Off to read until Glee! :D
